- ➤ During this weekend in the Quad Cities, Dogtoberfest took place in Bettendorf from 5 to 8 p.m. at Crow Creek Dog Park and Mercado on Fifth lit up Moline’s 5th Avenue — showcasing local food and music. Today, nature lovers can visit the 7th Annual Monarch Festival at the Wapsi River Center starting at 11 a.m. and the Quad Cities Brick Convention will run through today and tomorrow — offering interactive LEGO building for all ages. - ➤ The Figge Art Museum opens '100 Years of Collecting' today to honor a century of donations that began with ex-mayor Charles August Ficke's 1925 gift. - ➤ Todd Bogenschutz of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources said the statewide pheasant population reached a 20-year high after a mild winter helped more birds survive. Hunting season opens October 25 (youth hunts October 18 and 19) as officials expect about 700,000 roosters to be harvested despite a long-term loss of grasslands. KWQC

- ➤ Moline officials have started using a tool called the Goosinator to scare off protected Canada geese—fueling online debate about whether the method is too harsh. Wildlife Services explained that while the law prevents capturing or killing the birds, scaring them away is allowed to manage their population. KWQC
