- ➤ A Davenport nonprofit that helped revitalize the Gold Coast will close its Jipp Home & Grocery salvage shop on Gaines Street on Sept. 29—declining volunteer numbers forced the group, which rescued eight historic buildings in the Hamburg Historic District, to end its legacy of preservation. The Jipp building will be leased as a home and interior design showroom, and any unsold items will be donated to Habitat Restore. KWQC

- ➤ On Sept. 5, 17-year-old Benjamin Richardson was biking to school when he was hit by a car and taken to the hospital with a fractured skull and lasting nerve damage in his right arm—his family credits a higher power for his survival and fears high medical bills. KWQC

- ➤ Common Chord will host its third annual QC Flavor Fest from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 2 at its venue at 129 N. Main St. in downtown Davenport—tickets cost $45 and the event offers 15 tasting stations, live music from Chicago Farmer, and a silent auction while proceeds support music education programs. - ➤ The SCC Foundation will host SCC BASH 2025 on Oct. 9 at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf to raise funds for student scholarships — the event will feature career and technical displays, a Mediterranean-inspired dinner, and a live auction.
