- ➤ At Pleasant Valley High School, a new Iowa law now requires teachers to ban phones in classrooms to cut distractions and boost student engagement (they had already set some limits before the state rule). Some students worry that keeping phones in the office after repeated violations may cause problems during emergencies (the rule still allows phone use outside of class). The Quad City Times

- ➤ Team Win the Fight, a group of five local women, are training for a 60-mile walk in three days this November—November 14—16—in San Diego to support breast cancer research and patient care, and each member will need to raise at least $2,300 to help meet a $10,000 goal while hosting local fundraisers such as pizza sales and dance parties.
