- ➤ Communities across the Quad Cities are hosting Veterans Day events to honor local veterans; in Davenport, the parade will march downtown at 10 a.m. today — Hy-Vee offers free breakfast and grocery discounts from 6 to 10 a.m. today. Nearby, schools and community centers in Moline, Bettendorf and Elvira are marking the day with displays, ceremonies and a new art mural. KWQC
- ➤ Braden Hagen, owner of Motorheads Auto, advises drivers to test their battery, replace wiper blades and top off washer fluid as temperatures drop—he also recommends checking tire pressure and tread depth along with a full vehicle inspection before winter sets in. KWQC

- ➤ Scientists from Iowa universities signed a statement on Monday saying that rising temperatures and severe weather are making insurance costs go up, and they urged state lawmakers to shift to more renewable energy & updated building standards.
