- ➤ Fareway Stores delivered 25,000 pounds of protein to the Food Bank of Iowa on Nov 24th by partnering with the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation to support six Feeding America food banks across Iowa—this donation provides 100,000 servings for families in need. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ River Bend Food Bank will use fall funding to buy protein, milk, eggs, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, and pre-packed meal packs to distribute 6 million meals. The Quad City Times
- ➤ The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center served over 9,000 free Thanksgiving meals between Friday and Sunday (a record in its 36-year history). It surpassed last year's count (7,000 meals) as stated in a media release. KWQC
- ➤ Downtown LeClaire merchants are preparing for the 41st annual Christmas celebration from Dec 5-7 that will include a parade, bake sales, a live nativity, free trolley rides, and more. The Light Up LeClaire Parade will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday — participants can also join a Kids’ Fun Run and Ugly Sweater 5K for extra holiday fun. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ River Bend Food Bank is buying food supplies (protein, shelf-stable milk, eggs, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, and meal packs) to deliver 6 million meals after fall funding. The food bank said the purchase will help local residents who need food the most. The Dispatch Argus
- ➤ Kilkenny’s Pub is hosting its first Augustana vs St. Ambrose toy drive battle where donors choose which school gets credit for their toy contributions that help local non-profits — St. Ambrose supports Humility Homes and Services while Augustana aids Two Rivers Church Meal Site. The drive has received over 100 toys so far and will run until December 11th to welcome donations from students, alumni, and community members. KWQC

- ➤ Today, even as gas prices begin rising ahead of Thanksgiving, they remain 19.2 cents per gallon lower than last month and 12.1 cents lower than last year in the Quad-Cities — according to GasBuddy. The Dispatch Argus

- ➤ An Iowa State Patrol trooper advised local drivers to plan ahead for safe Thanksgiving travel by using ride-shares or staying at friends’ homes if they plan to drink; he said state troopers will work with local police to increase checks for impaired drivers—Quad Cities bars will also boost security and staffing.
