- ➤ The 23rd Annual Davenport Police Association Toy Drive will benefit children and families served by Family Resources Inc. as it will be held this Sunday at NorthPark Mall. The Quad City Times

- ➤ Made Market returns on Friday, Dec. 5, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Bend XPO in East Moline – the holiday shopping event brings over 150 small businesses offering handmade goods, vintage finds and holiday decor with live music and festive photo opportunities. The first 50 shoppers each day will receive a free tote bag while children 16 and under enter free. Quad Cities Business Journal

- ➤ A new guide lists 22 spots for local residents to view Christmas lights in the Quad-Cities this season. It offers details on where to go and what to expect for the holiday displays. The Quad City Times

- ➤ River Action is accepting nominations for the 2026 Eddy Awards to honor efforts that keep the Mississippi River healthy and the riverfront vibrant; nominations must include the required details and be submitted by email until (Jan. 25). Winners will be announced at the annual Fish and Fire Fundraiser Dinner on (April 30). KWQC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Davenport police today offered winter driving safety tips to help drivers adjust to slushy and icy roads by advising them to slow down, leave early, and keep a winter kit in their car—which includes items like a blanket, flashlight, and snow scraper. The department stressed giving extra room at intersections and preparing for slippery conditions to prevent accidents. KWQC
- ➤ On Thanksgiving week, Davenport launched four new electric buses that replaced four diesel buses in its fleet of 21 vehicles. The electric buses begin service to offer a cleaner transit option for local riders. The Quad City Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Medicare ratings show MercyOne Genesis in Davenport received one star—only 54% of sepsis patients received appropriate care and 6% of emergency patients left before being seen, while UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island was rated two stars with less than half of sepsis cases addressed correctly and 8% of ER patients leaving. Both hospitals stated that the data from 2020 to 2023 may not reflect current care and noted that ongoing improvements are in progress. KWQC
- ➤ Health experts warned that when the wind chill falls below zero, skin can freeze in minutes and early signs of frostbite and hypothermia—such as a tingling feeling and pale skin—may be easy to miss. They say residents should dress in three layers and keep emergency supplies close, especially for children, older adults and pets. KWQC

- ➤ Michelle Juehring, the race director of the Quad-City Times Bix 7, has been named MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year and will get the award on Dec. 8—she earned the honor for her strong work and new changes at the race.
