- ➤ The Davenport Police Association is launching its 23rd annual toy drive to collect new toys and monetary donations for children served by Family Resources. Donations may be dropped off Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Chuck’s Tap & Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at North Park Mall. KWQC
- ➤ IHMVCU donated $13,000 on Giving Tuesday to six nonprofits chosen by 1,793 community votes + HOPE Initiative got $5,000, QC Paws received $3,000, YWCA Alan’s House got $2,000, and Hope at the Brick House, Knock and Drop Iowa, and Sunshine Community Services Center got $1,000 each; the credit union urged year-round support. - ➤ Akwaaba Quad Cities is hosting a free winter clothes giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its office (1531 47th Ave, Suite 2, Moline) where residents can register online. KWQC
- ➤ Tapestry Farms launched a new holiday gift line including handmade baklava, fresh flower bouquets, and locally grown vegetables available as one-time purchases or as subscriptions (2026), with proceeds funding jobs and comprehensive services for refugee families in the Quad Cities. - ➤ The annual Christmas tree sale is open this holiday season at Brady Street Stadium parking lot, offering real trees starting at $50 to raise funds for local youth programs and charities. - ➤ Augustana will host its annual winter holiday lightshow at the John Deere Planetarium this weekend (festive displays aim to brighten the celebration). The Quad City Times
- ➤ Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank cardholders will receive free admission to the Figge Art Museum in Davenport and the Science Center of Iowa in Des Moines Dec. 6-7 as part of the Museums on Us program—cardholders must show a bank card and photo ID. - ➤ The Iowa Department of Natural Resources launched a new plan to manage chronic wasting disease in deer ahead of gun season tomorrow- Dec. 6, which calls for voluntary testing and tracking of disease progression through 2030. Hunters are encouraged to take part in surveillance efforts to help slow the disease spread. KWQC

- ➤ Scott County plans new ambulance designs — choosing mostly blue or dark grey and green over the traditional white, blue, and red. Officials say an updated fleet could be seen soon to improve emergency services. The Quad City Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Quad Cities are facing rising demand for orthopedic care as older residents and active adults seek advanced treatments. UnityPoint Health and ORA Orthopedics are expanding their partnership to deliver minimally invasive procedures and same-day surgeries. KWQC
- ➤ The Iowa Insurance Division’s Senior Health Information and Senior Medicare Patrol Program warned Iowa Medicare beneficiaries of scam calls asking for Social Security numbers and banking details. The agency advised letting calls go to voicemail and using numbers from official plan cards (caller ID can be spoofed). KWQC
- ➤ The fall 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety grading found no Quad-Cities hospital earned an A rating while Illinois hospitals tied for 17th with several top ratings. The results show a clear gap in patient safety performance between the states. The Quad City Times
