- ➤ Empowering Abilities has inducted Wendy McDonagh, Modern Woodmen of America, and Knights of Columbus Hispanic Council 14131 into its Hall of Fame to honor their support for individuals with disabilities. The local nonprofit celebrated these community champions who strengthen services and programs in the Quad Cities. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ Jo Nicholson from the Humane Society of Scott County introduced adoptable dog Mahogany, a stray estimated at five or six years old who is a volunteer favorite on leash walks, and the shelter invites locals to support its Angel Tree donation and foster program at 2802 W. Central Park Ave. KWQC

- ➤ The Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in Walcott got city council approval to add 25,000 sqft for its historic truck collection, including the 1948 Mack ESQ post-restoration. The expansion will be built by Davenport-headquartered Russell, starting next spring and finishing by Oct. in 2026. Quad Cities Business Journal
- ➤ WQPT PBS will air the locally produced documentary 'I AM disABLEd' Sunday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. The film follows nine youths with disabilities as they stage Seussical through The Penguin Project (produced by Fresh Films in Rock Island) and aims to spark inclusive dialogue. - ➤ Local businesses are decking their halls with extravagant holiday decorations. Kelso’s Corner in the Village will host its annual Whobilation Celebration on Dec. 20 from noon to 6 p.m.- an event that invites the community to enjoy festive displays and seasonal treats. KWQC

- ➤ Davenport School District approved a plan to add two preschool facilities and relocate another for Children's Villages at Eisenhower and Harrison elementaries. The Dispatch Argus
- ➤ On Dec. 8, the Moline-Coal Valley School District approved renaming Lincoln-Irving Elementary School (with 350 students) to honor late community leader Robert Ontiveros, founder of Group O, as the school prepares for a $28 million expansion starting March 2026 with renovations set to finish in August 2027.
