- ➤ Volunteers will honor fallen veterans at Rock Island National Cemetery when the Wreaths Across America program starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 on Arsenal Island; a keynote by Lt. Gen. - ➤ Western Illinois University is seeing fewer students on its Quad Cities and Macomb campuses after enrollment dropped from 6,332 to 5,337 last fall, largely due to big graduating classes and fewer international students — the university expects a small spring decline before hopeful increases in fall ’26. - ➤ Augustana College environmental studies seniors wrapped up a three-year wildlife study at Duck Creek this fall, partnering with Davenport officials to track how people and animals use the park; they provided recommendations—aimed at protecting wildlife habitat and enhancing park enjoyment—to city leaders.
