- ➤ Bethany for Children and Families partnered with Slumberland to give away 43 bed sets to families transitioning from homelessness as part of the annual Making Homes for the Holidays program at a local furniture store. The donation aimed to help recipients secure a night's sleep and build a stable future. KWQC
- ➤ Downtown Davenport Partnership will host Icestravaganza at Freight House (421 W. River Drive) from Friday, Jan. 16 to Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026; the free family-friendly event will feature ice sculptures, live carving demonstrations, interactive outdoor games and a warming station with free hot cocoa. - ➤ The Quad City Community Foundation awarded $315,000 to 12 local organizations to support projects in environmental care, fairness, learning and community revitalization along the Mississippi River. The grants will help refresh and strengthen our community. The Dispatch Argus

- ➤ Quad City Community Foundation awarded $315,000 to 12 local groups to revitalize the Mississippi River through projects focused on environmental stewardship, equity, education and community improvements. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Flu cases are rising in the Quad Cities as holiday gatherings increase; doctors advise residents to get the flu vaccine, stay home if sick and avoid close contact with newborns (the vaccine cannot cause the flu). KWQC
- ➤ Health care costs will rise for many after Congress did not extend enhanced ACA subsides. Community Health Care (CHC) is using a sliding fee program and phone consultations to help those uninsured or underinsured and the House will vote on extending the benefits in January (officials say). KWQC
- ➤ AAA is offering its free Tow to Go service to impaired drivers starting at 6 p.m. today, providing free rides and tows within a 10-mile radius in select areas such as Iowa. The program serves as a backup option when planned rides fail and will run until 6 a.m. Jan. 2. Quad Cities Business Journal
