Artistic Achievement: Bettendorf Middle School Unveils Student-Crafted Mural

Eighth-graders at Bettendorf Middle School have completed a vibrant mural by the school's main entrance, enhancing the building with a large 'BMS Pride' design between two paw prints on a yellow-gold background. This art project, the first mural experience for many of the students, was integrated into the eighth-grade art curriculum by art teacher Shawna McLeod, allowing students to explore different artistic roles. The mural, which will remain despite upcoming renovations to the school, serves as a lasting mark of the current students before they move on to high school, adding a creative and welcoming touch to the school environment. It's noted for introducing more color and inspiration into the school's spaces, aligning with broader goals of making school spaces inviting and stimulating for students.

Thousands of Iowans start their day with Daily Davenport

“Reading the newsletter has become a really positive daily habit for me. I read it while drinking my coffee and planning the day. It saves me a ton of time, but it's really enjoyable too. It's great to have the news filtered down to just a handful of critical events everyday that actually matters to me. I also like reading the community profiles. They interview people locally like teachers, politicians, and small business owners. It's hard to find this anywhere else.”

“I'm a senior citizen here in Davenport, and this newsletter is like a lifeline. I don't have the attention span these days to read the paper, and Facebook is a mess. This newsletter keeps me informed, without taking the whole day from me.”

“I like how this newsletter keeps me connected with our community. It's great to have a dedicated source that focuses on what's going on locally. So many news companies are focused on huge attention-grabbing national headlines. But, besides the entertainment value, it's not really relevant to my day-to-day. Also it's great the newsletter is free.”

“This newsletter has been a game-changer for my business. It not only highlights local news but also features small businesses like mine. It's a great platform for local exposure.”

“I'm a parent, and it's apparent how busy that makes me. I LOVE newspapers (especially the smell), but I never have time to read it anymore. So thank god this newsletter exists, and I can read it in a few minutes. If anything is really critical or catches my eye, I can always spend more time reading into each piece of news, but it isn't usually necessary.”
