- ➤ Today the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center Mobile Vaccine Clinic is at Silvis Library from noon to 2 p.m. offering affordable vaccines and wellness services with no appointment needed—on July 3 the clinic will move to Zion Lutheran Church at 1216 W. 8th St. from 2 to 4 p.m. where pet owners must keep cats in carriers and dogs on leashes. - ➤ On June 18, 2025, about a dozen Quad-Cities residents protested at Rock Island City Hall against a proposed 10-acre development near Milan Bottoms that would include a cannabis dispensary and a gas station. Protesters cited concerns over disturbing eagle nesting sites and potential flooding risks—city officials will vote on expanding the TIF district on July 14 and hold a second reading on July 28. - ➤ 18-year-old Minnesota man Alyx Hinton waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Davenport in connection with the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man and will be arraigned on July 10 facing six felony charges including first-degree murder, two counts of attempt to commit murder, two counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon and going armed with intent. - ➤ American Pickers star Colby will open the new Ecdysiast Arts Museum in Davenport on Saturday, June 21 at 322 Brady St.—the museum honors burlesque heritage with exhibits from Colby’s private collection. - ➤ Eastern Iowa Community Colleges will honor students who completed its High School Equivalency Program with a ceremony in Davenport on Thursday, June 26 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Davenport North High School Auditorium—graduates balanced work and family and will receive a three-credit scholarship for career courses. - ➤ Residents protested at a TIF hearing on Wednesday at Rock Island City Hall as they opposed a proposed 10-acre development near Milan Bottoms wetlands that would add a cannabis dispensary and gas station (fearing harm to local wildlife including nesting bald eagles).
