- ➤ Members of the Iowa Farmers Union are in Washington to talk with Congress about tariffs that are lowering profits, while John Deere warned that machine sales may drop 15—20% as farmers choose used equipment. - ➤ More Quad-Cities parents are not vaccinating their children for school as Iowa and Illinois allow exemptions that require a doctor’s note or a sincerely held belief + exemption rates have jumped 77% in Iowa and 65% in Illinois over the past five years, raising concerns among health experts. - ➤ Iowa cattle farms have seen the Asian long-horned tick carrying a parasite that causes anemia, and affected cattle show signs like fever, difficulty breathing and lethargy. Experts advise trimming pasture vegetation to manage the infestation, and the tick is expected to spread statewide within the next few years — putting pressure on animal health and farm profits. KWQC
