A Davenport family has a new front door. Katelyn Kleinsmith got the keys Saturday morning, surrounded by family and community members, and told her sons, “Boys, we’re home.” WQAD says the mother of four got there after finishing volunteer hours and homeownership preparation classes.

“Homeownership represents stability and security for my sons and me.”

Katelyn Kleinsmith

partners with the City of Davenport's and The Quad Cities Housing Council to create affordable housing for families in need. Each partner family must complete at least 250 volunteer hours and attend homeownership preparation classes to buy the home.
